A simple utility for product demo screen recordings. The required features are:
- Must work on my weird Linux + Wayland setup
- Reliable recording and encoding of the screen
- Auto zoom when focusing and clicking on things
- Enlarged mouse for visibility
- Records everything at the OS level (not like Loom)
- Boosts audio to audible levels because my mic's too quiet
- Webcam in corner of output videos (must show while recording)
- CLI tool (I don't need a UI for now)
- Ideally uploading to somewhere built in
Inspired by https://screen.studio/ (Mac only) which it seems like everyone on ProductHunt uses. I've been using https://screenix.studio/ up to now, but it's really broken for me, so I decided to build this for myself! How hard can it be? Famous last words.

Demovid: my personal screen recorder
Single-user software strikes again! I struggled to find a screen recorder that meets my needs, so simply built one! I would have never done this a year ago. I can now also cancel my Screenix subscription.
Now it doesn't actually help much to share the code, as it's heavily customised to my system and my preferences, but I figure if someone wants to do something similar, they can give that source code to their agent of choice and vibe-code their own version.
It doesn't need to be widely usable; that's the beauty of single-user software!
